The application deadline for the Clinical Trial Methods Course in Neurology has now passed. Applications will no longer be accepted. You are welcome to apply next year.
A Notice Of Decision (NOD) will be mailed to each applicant in the beginning of May. Please do not call or email as we are unable to provide any additional information outside the NOD.
Required Application Materials
APPLICATIONS DUE BY MARCH 28, 2008
During this course, participants will work with faculty to develop a complete protocol
and draft informed consent. Applicants should submit a 1-2 page protocol of the
proposed clinical trial idea (completed trials or trials in progress will not be
accepted) that they will further develop during the course. The trial description
should consist of a title, a brief explanation of the relevance of the project,
and a synopsis or schema of the research plan. Additionally, applicants must submit:
- A cover page with name, institution, title, telephone number, fax number, and e-mail
- An NIH style biosketch
- A description of their research plans for the next 2 years and their career goals
(1 page maximum)
- An explanation of how the course will help them to implement their proposed clinical
trial (1 page maximum)
- A brief, signed statement of commitment to participate in the long-term evaluation
of the course by maintaining contact with the organizers and responding to questionnaires
- A letter from the trainee’s mentor or unit director/chair is required. The letter
must address:
- The mentor’s relationship to the trainee
- The quality of the trainee’s current and prior work
- The mentor’s commitment and plans to facilitate and enable the student to complete
the proposed project
- A statement of commitment by the mentor to participate in long-term evaluation of
the course by reporting on the trainee’s progress on the project and career development
The program is specifically designed for early investigators (Fellows and Assistant
Professor level), but all interested candidates who might benefit from the course
are strongly encouraged to apply. Application materials should be submitted below
as a single PDF file. The protocol synopsis and the additional six elements of the
application are required. Applications will be reviewed by the program committee
in March and investigators will be informed in April.
