David J. Edwards, PharmD
Dr. Edwards is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and adjunct professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Wayne
State University. He received his undergraduate degree in pharmacy from University of Toronto and the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the
State University of New York at Buffalo where he completed postdoctoral training in pharmacokinetics. His research has focused on the
effect of food, beverages, herbal products and other drugs on drug metabolism and disposition. This includes a number of studies
investigating the mechanism and significance of the interaction between grapefruit juice and prescription medication. Professor Edwards
has published more than 80 research papers in pharmacy, clinical pharmacology and medical journals. He served on the editorial board of
the journal Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics from 1991 to 2006 and he has been a consultant to a number of government agencies in
Canada and the United States.
