Susan C. Fagan, Pharm.D
Dr. Susan Fagan has been a Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia, and adjunct Professor of Neurology at the Medical
College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia since 1999. In 2007 she became Associate Department Head and Assistant Dean for the UGA
pharmacy program at MCG and in August of 2008 was appointed Albert W Jowdy Professor of Pharmacy Care. She is in the Program in Clinical
and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Georgia and the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. She is currently a Fellow of the
American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Heart Association Stroke Council and a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist.
She is recognized nationally and internationally for her research in stroke. Dr. Fagan’s research program is focused on the identification
and development of new therapeutic strategies for acute ischemic stroke. Currently, her work focuses on vascular protection after acute
stroke. Her work is currently funded by NIH-NINDS, VA Merit Review, and the American Legion. Using both experimental and clinical
approaches, Dr. Fagan’s laboratory aims to improve the way in which stroke patients are treated.
