Yuko Y. Palesch, PhD
Dr. Palesch is Professor of Biostatistics and Director of the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology (DBE) at the
Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She received her BA degree from Cornell University, MS from University
of Pittsburgh, and PhD in statistics from the George Washington University. She was the Director of the Data Coordination
Unit (DCU), housed in the DBE, prior to assuming the Division Director role last year. She has been the Principal
Investigator of statistics and data coordination center grants for several NINDS-funded trials. Her current focus is on
clinical trials of stroke, TBI and other neurological emergencies. Her statistical research interest is in clinical trials
design and analysis methods, particularly on missing data handling.
