Steven Piantadosi, MD, PhD
Steven Piantadosi, MD, PhD is the Director of the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer
Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he is Professor of Medicine and holder
of the Phase I Foundation Endowed Chair. Dr. Piantadosi is an expert in the design
and analysis of clinical trials and has been an advisor to many government, academic,
and industry trial sponsors. Dr. Piantadosi’s research has focused on the application
of quantitative methods in clinical and translational research, and clinical trial
methodology in diverse areas of oncology. He has widely collaborated on projects
in disciplines such as lung disease, AIDS, and degenerative neurological disease.
Dr. Piantadosi is the author of Clinical Trials: A Methodologic Perspective, which
is a widely employed textbook for clinical trials. He has taught young investigators
for over 25 years beginning in the Johns Hopkins Graduate Trianing Prgram in Clinical
Investigation, and more recently in the STAR program at UCLA where he is a Professor
in the Departments of Medicine and Biomathematics. He has also taught through international
venues such as the AACR/ASCO Workshop on Methods in Clinical Cancer Research, and
the Clinical Trial Methods Course in Neurology. Dr. Piantadosi is a Fellow of the
Society for Clinical Trials.
