M. Aileen Shinaman, Esq.
M. Aileen Shinaman is Senior Counsel to the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
Aileen has been part of the University’s legal department since 1992, and has handled a variety of legal matters during her tenure,
including a period of time when she served as Executive Director of the Parkinson and Huntington Study Groups, academic consortia devoted
to clinical research. Currently, Aileen’s responsibilities include advising Medical Center clients on compliance with the physician
self-referral (“Stark”) law, research compliance, faculty matters and real estate. Prior to working for the University, Aileen was an
associate at Nixon, Hargrave, Devans and Doyle (now Nixon Peabody), and a law clerk for the New York State Appellate Division, Third
Department. Aileen is a member of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Legal Services Project. She is a graduate of the State
University of New York at Albany and Albany Law School.
